The Process
Music Production has many stages. Whether you are creating an entire album start to finish or just working on one song, the steps taken should be fairly similar. Carpenters use a phrase “Measure twice, Cut once” reminding themselves to save valuable time and money by not rushing into things and producing music in most cases follows the same principles.
Pre-Production
This can be one of the most important stages in the process. Pre-Production basically means everything that happens before you get into the studio to record. Working out your arrangements, deciding which instruments will be played, gathering all of your documentation, and having a clear vision of how to proceed are some of the important steps to take before entering a studio to record. At a discounted rate, we can help you take the right steps and get everything prepared before going in to the studio to save valuable time and money.
Tracking
This is the first part of the physical recording process, and is one of the most important steps. The higher the quality of the original recording, the better the final product. We have the right mics, the right gear, and years of experience getting the most pristine quality sound representative of your instrument or voice.
Editing
If you’ve got some timing issues or a vocal track that is slightly out of tune we can fix most problems with certain editing techniques. Our editing expertise gets down to the microscopic details that might be quiet enough to not be heard in the mix, but when fixed will highten the sonic quality of the overall sound.
Mixing
Once everything is edited, the elements of the track will seem to lock together. Now starts the subtle art of mixing: choosing the right reverbs, dialing in special tones, delays, and other effects to bring a polished sound to the piece. Mixing will get your piece sounding great and almost ready to be played for the public.
Mastering
The final stage of the products development. In this stage delicate adjustments are made to balance the album from track to track. This will make sure that any small inconsistencies between mixes are corrected. Through EQ, Compression and critical listening your tracks will come out sounding balanced, representative of the vision you created, and will sound amazing when played on any sound system.
